U12 -Intro to Contact
The Lanark Highlanders are proud to offer intro to contact for athletes aged 11 & 12. A level that continues to help young players learn to play rugby in an inclusive environment while developing as an athlete and an individual. Our certified coaches continue to grow and develop young athletes as they transition into contact rugby with safe, age appropriate activities for our players. The game at U12 intro to contact is delivered to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to learn and play, regardless of experience and ability.
What to Expect?
Practices are Tuesdays from 6-7 pm at Oakfield Rugby Park in Perth starting in May. Festivals run on Sundays starting at the end of May and roll through July into the start of August.
We will continue to develop an understanding of the sport of rugby. Athletes will learn rugby skills through fun drills and games within our practices, including how to tackle and be tackled correctly and safely.
Athletes must attend several contact sessions (practices) before playing a game to ensure they have the skills to play it safely.
Players receive equal playing time at festivals, and although we encourage strong, competitive, and skilled play, our main focus is on teamwork and promoting the club values of
PASSION - INTEGRITY - COMMUNITY.
